July 1, 2000 Shelron Internet releases SMG™ Alpha
Shelron has released the long awaited first version of its Site Manager Generator, a state-of-the-art software kit that enables its users to visually create a powrful managment tool that will allow them to manage and control the content and processes of their dynamic database-driven websites.
The SMG™ is a tool that allows non-experienced programmers and website administrators to rapidly customize and create their own powerful website management tools. Shelron Internet CEO, Eliron Yaron, and Chief Technology Officer, Guy Ron came up with the idea for the SMG™ one and a half years ago. "We figured out that we were spending huge amounts of time and resources creating customized management tools for our clients so that they could manage the content and processes of their websites. So we decided to create a generator that would accelerate the process of building dotCom sites, while reducing costs and development time by a significant amount", says Yaron.
At its core, the SMG™ is totally site-irrelevant, which means that vastly different websites can use the tool to manage their content and process. "Most Mid & Large size websites have to manage some dynamic content and processes. As a Technology Accelerator for Start-Ups, Shelron usually builds largely e-commerce based sites, with huge amounts of dynamic content (e.g. product catalogues) and processes (e.g. order processing). The SMG™ is a generator - it is used by Shelron and Others to develop management tools for those websites", says CTO Ron.
"As a visual tool, an SMG™ management tool enables its user to manage and manipulate all the information stored in the site data sources (e.g. databases), and to run and generate all kinds of queries and reports. The SMG™ also supports an open plug-ins technology", says Ron.
